How to Marry a Millionaire - 'Season 1,' Starring Barbara Eden, is Now on DVD! MOD available since yesterday from Amazon/CreateSpace; Season 2 is coming!

In her first recurring television role, Barbara Eden ("I Dream of Jeannie") stars in "How to Marry A Millionaire," the late 1950s sitcom about three young women who move to the big city in search of wealthy men as potential husbands. The series is among the first based on a feature film, like the 1953 movie of the same name which starred Marilyn Monroe, Lauren Bacall and Betty Grable, three twentysomething women move to Park Avenue in New York City with the intent of landing a rich husband. Each episode follows the adventures, and mishaps, of the friends as they try to help each other meet a husband, while at the same time avoid eviction from the ritzy penthouse suite. The series also stars Merry Anders ("Dragnet"), Lori Nelson ("Day the World Ended") and Lisa Gaye ("Death Valley Days"). Syndicated for two seasons beginning in October 1957, "How to Marry A Millionaire" features notable guest stars including Morey Amsterdam ("The Dick Van Dyke Show"), Richard Deacon ("The Dick Van Dyke Show"), Werner Klemperer ("Hogan's Heroes") and Ted Knight ("The Mary Tyler Moore Show"). This past October we first reported that Fox is working on an MOD release for How to Marry a Millionaire - The Complete Series on DVD. It's going to be both seasons of the late-'50s TV show, which starred Barbara Eden (I Dream of Jeannie) during the show's first season. We're still waiting on word as to when that two-season collection will be available. But today we owe thanks to reader Jordan Hall for spotting the fact that Amazon's CreateSpace manufacture on demand (MOD) program has yesterday (February 21st) released How to Marry a Millionaire - Season 1 as a 5-DVD set. It's priced at just $24.99 SRP. Merry Anders and Lori Nelson co-star, and you can see them with Eden on the full-size package art below. What about Season 2? A separate Amazon.com listing for and MOD release of How to Marry a Millionaire - Season 2 on DVD (showing just $8.99 for 2 discs!) is available to pre-order...but like The Complete Series, doesn't show a date. Rather it says, "This title has not yet been released. You may pre-order it now and we will deliver it to you when it arrives." Artwork is available for it at the Amazon entry.
