The acclaimed drama from award-winning filmmaker Ava DuVernay and executive producer Oprah Winfrey was also the night's #1 telecast across all of broadcast and cable for African-American women.
In addition, the season premiere of "Queen Sugar" ranked as the #1 most social show on Twitter and Facebook in all of cable among all dayparts (non-sports) for the day.
OWN was Tuesday night's #1 cable network among W25-54 with "Queen Sugar" and "The Haves and the Have Nots" among the top three cable telecasts in the key demo. OWN was also Tuesday night's #1 network on all of television, including broadcast and cable, for African-American women and total viewers.

LOS ANGELES - OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced today it has ordered more episodes of the hit docu-series "Black Love" which debuted Tuesday (8/29/17) with 1.2 million total viewers and a 0.89 rating for W25-54, becoming OWN's most-watched unscripted series debut in OWN history and the network's highest-rated unscripted series debut in more than four years in the network's key W25-54 demo. The series was #2 in the time period across all cable for W25-54. Additionally, the premiere of "Black Love" was the #2 most social primetime episode on national cable.
The series will debut in its regular timeslot, Saturdays ?at 9 p.m. ET/PT, ?beginning this Saturday, September 2.
The new episodes for 2018 will feature Emmy-nominated actor Sterling K. The season two premiere of OWN's critically-acclaimed drama "Queen Sugar" (10 p.m.) aired its highest-rated episode in series history across key women and adult demos, with a 2.09 rating for W25-54 and 2.3 million total viewers. The premiere episode was Tuesday night's #2 cable telecast for women and was #1 in the time period across all cable for women.
The season premiere of OWN's hit drama series, "The Haves and the Have Nots" from Tyler Perry (9 p.m.), earned a 2.17 rating for W25-54, up 13% vs. the prior season average (1.92), and 2.7 million total viewers. The episode was Tuesday night's #1 cable telecast for women.
Additionally, the premieres of "Queen Sugar" and "The Haves and the Have Nots" were the #1 and #2 most social cable series episodes, respectively, on Tuesday.
