Charlie, April, Ram and Tanya, under the watchful eye of Physics teacher Miss Quill, are now charged with a great responsibility by the mysterious alien known as The Doctor: protect Coal Hill and guard against the creatures of a nightmare that want nothing more than to find a way through to Earth and take it for their own. In October 2016, the BBC Three ("BBC II!") streaming service in the U.K. began showing the Doctor Who spin-off series, Class, which ran for 8 episodes and guest-starred Peter Capaldi as the 12th Doctor in the opening story. Regular cast include Greg Austin, Fady Elsayed, Sophie Hopkins, Vivian Oparah, and Katherine Kelly. In Canada, the Space channel began airing Class on the same day it became available in the UK. After all eight episodes had streamed in the UK on BBC Three, it was then broadcast over the airwaves on BBC One. What about the USA? This last Saturday, when the latest (tenth) series of Doctor Who debuted, BBC America followed that premiere with the first episode of Class. No official word yet from the BBC as to whether the spin-off will get a second series or not. In the meantime, we've found that Amazon.com has begun accepting pre-orders for the show, listed there (for now, anyway...it may not be finalized yet and could be subject to change) simply as "Doctor Who: Class." On Tuesday, July 11th BBC Home Entertainment (and North American distributor Warner Home Video) will put out these 8 episodes as 2-disc sets on both DVD format ($19.49 SRP) and high-def Blu-ray Disc format ($24.99 SRP). Details and package art haven't been made available there, nor is there any information or artwork showing so far at the various websites for BBC Home Entertainment or Warner Home Video. Stay tuned, though, and we'll update you further, as more details come out! |
