JASON SILVA AND RUDY MANCUSO EXPLORE THE WORLDS OF PSYCHEDELICS AND POLITICAL SKETCH COMEDY IN LATIN AMERICA IN TWO NEW EPISODES OF ‘OUTPOST’ AIRING THIS SUNDAY, APRIL 2

Fusion’s newest docuseries, “OUTPOST, will air two new back-to-back episodes this Sunday, April 2 beginning at 8 PM. In the first episode, “Drugs,” Jason Silva (“Brain Games,” “Shots of Awe”) travels deep into the state of Oaxaca, Mexico to learn about the roots of psychedelic psilocybin mushrooms and to see what scientists are doing to apply the powers of psilocybin to medical treatment in the modern era. In the second episode, ““Power of Internet,” Rudy Mancuso (musician, Vine star) revisits his Brazilian ancestry and meets the people behind Porta dos Fundos, a sketch comedy troupe taking political and social commentary to the next level in Rio de Janeiro. “OUTPOST” airs Sunday nights with English-language episodes airing on FUSION TV at 8PM (channel listings) and Spanish-language episodes airing on UniMas at 11PM. “OUTPOST” “Drugs” (Sunday, April 2 at 8 PM on Fusion TV) – English Language
“Drugs” looks at the world of drugs in Latin America from a couple of new angles.
     Mexico’s Magic Mushrooms. Jason Silva travels deep into the state of Oaxaca, Mexico to learn about the roots of psychedelic psilocybin mushrooms and later, to see what scientists are doing to apply the powers of psilocybin to medical treatment in the modern era.
     Paraguay Marijuana. Alice Brennan travels to Paraguay, to some of its more remote corners, where the drug trade, and a government war on the growers and dealers, is thriving even as neighboring countries move towards legalization. She asks the question: could legalization be a better path here?

“Power of Internet” sees the power the internet has to shape culture, and even politics.
     Porta dos Fundos. Rudy Mancuso revisits his Brazilian ancestry and meets the people behind Porta dos Fundos, a sketch comedy troupe taking political and social commentary to the next level in Rio de Janeiro.
     Wendy Sulca. Gabriel Leigh takes us to Lima, Peru to meet a young woman – who rose to YouTube fame with a song about breastfeeding, made when she was eight years old – struggling to define herself as she moves into adulthood and with a hopeful career as a pop musician.

With the help of special guest correspondents Jon Batiste (“Late Show with Stephen Colbert” bandleader, Jon Batiste and Stay Human), Jason Silva (“Brain Games,” “Shots of Awe”) Mike Tyson (former professional boxer), and Carmen Carrera (transgender model, LGBT rights advocate), as well as a series of other young, diverse correspondents, viewers get a chance to experience Latin America like never before, while taking in vibrant and unique stories with authentic local perspectives about subcultures, environmental matters, current events and adventure sports.  Additional guest correspondents include: Mia Maestro (“The Strain”), Michaela DePrince (Dutch National Ballet), Rudy Mancuso (social media star), Maya Gabeira (premier big wave surfer), Sean Reyngoudt (top kitesurfer) and Laila Gohar (New York-based chef). Complementing these guest correspondents are journalists: Kimberly Brooks, Vytenis Didziulis, Gabriel Leigh, Ramon Iriarte, Alice Brennan and Natasha Del Toro.

The inaugural season, the twelve-episode series focuses on stories and locals from Haiti, Brazil, Colombia, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, Bolivia, Cuba, Argentina, Honduras, Chile and more. From Oaxaca to Argentina and Easter Island to Paraguay, the docuseries offers an offbeat and immersive exploration of Latin America.

“OUTPOST” Episodes 103 & 104 – “ISIS Fighters” (Sunday, April 2 at 11 PM on UniMás) – Spanish Language
A frontline report on the war against the Islamic State. In this “OUTPOST” special, we spend two back-to-back episodes in Syria following several western volunteers embedded with Kurdish militias as they travel deep into Islamic State strongholds and uncover the brutality of life under ISIS.
