NEW YORK (April 21, 2017) – From the vast deserts of Africa to the icy heights of the Himalaya, Travel Channel premieres “Josh Gates’ Destination Truth” beginning on Friday, May 19 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. In the 43 one-hour episodes, explorer Josh Gates experiences hilarious and harrowing adventures in search of the truth behind the world's most unusual mysteries. Set in more than 50 breathtaking sites like Machu Picchu, Peru, and Petra, Jordan, “Josh Gates’ Destination Truth” is one of the most international shows on television.

“These are some of my most unusual, thrilling, weird, and often hilarious travel adventures,” said Gates. “It's all about real investigations of fascinating mysteries – from sightings of cryptozoological creatures to otherworldly phenomena, we point our compass toward the unexplained. It's a wild ride, and the truth, as they say, is out there."

In the premiere episode, Gates first heads to the islands of Indonesia in search of the elusive orang pendek. With several local sightings, he is on a mission to find the creature that may be inhabiting the forests of Sumatra.  Gates also travels to Iceland to uncover the truth behind a worm monster that reportedly resides in Lake Lagarfljot.

Whether it's sightings of a mysterious sea creature in the Mediterranean or puzzling lights in the skies over Kazakhstan, Gates meets eyewitnesses claiming encounters with the unknown in each episode. Upcoming adventures will include the world's first overnight filming in King Tut's tomb and the first-ever night exploration of the world's largest religious structure at Angkor Wat.
