All 14 episodes and a television movie, based on the characters in Rex Stout's classic series of detective stories! Nero Wolfe is a brilliant, portly detective who detests leaving his New York City brownstone and much prefers staying home, tending to his award-winning orchids, reading, and solving cases. His faithful young assistant Archie Goodwin does the legwork for the detective genius. Starring : William Conrad, Lee Horsley, George Voskovec, Robert Coote, George Wyner, Allan Miller. Bonus : Nero Wolfe (film) - 1977 TV film adaptation of Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe novel The Doorbell Rang.
We first reported back in November 2015 - some 17 months ago! - that this item was in-the-works from Visual Entertainment, Inc. (VEI). Now the studio has formally announced late yesterday that Nero Wolfe - The Complete Series is almost ready for its DVD release! They're not giving a specific street date yet, sticking to the "coming soon" label for now. Nor is pricing finalized yet, either. But VEI has revealed that the set will come with all 14 episodes of the 1981 series that starred William Conrad (Jake and the Fatman) and Lee Horsley (Matt Houston).

In addition, it will also include the Nero Wolfe TV movie aired in late 1979, starring Thayer David (Dark Shadows) in the title role. It was the actor's final role; the telefilm/pilot began production in 1977, but in mid-1978 he was stricken by a heart attack and passed away. Plans to turn the pilot - which co-starred Tom Mason (Freebie and the Bean) as "Archie Goodwin" - into a show were shelved. Then, after the telefilm aired in mid-December '79, they decided to move forward with the show, recasting both Wolfe and Goodwin. But this TV movie, based on Rex Stout's "Nero Wolfe" novel The Doorbell Rang, will be included on VEI's DVD release as a bonus item.

VEI has also provided package art for this set. Check it out:
