Turner Classic Movies (TCM) invites fans to tune-in and beat the heat with a slate of cool classic movies. From Alfred Hitchcock and Audrey Hepburn to the latest edition of TCM's ultimate star showcase, Summer Under the Stars, the network has something for every movie lover this summer. TCM is pairing its summer lineup with an immersive, multiplatform social-media campaign built around the network's #LetsMovie tagline as well as a new "Let's Movie" spot with TCM Primetime host Ben Mankiewicz, Saturday daytime host Tiffany Vazquez and Noir Alley host Eddie Muller and a new promo featuring the voice of legendary talk-show host Dick Cavett.
· Star of the Month: Audrey Hepburn - TCM kicks off the summer with the always culturally relevant Audrey Hepburn as the network's Star of the Month, showcasing some of her most iconic films every Monday night in June. From a traumatic youth in Nazi-occupied Europe, Hepburn effortlessly charmed her way into the hearts of producers, directors, co-stars and movie-goers alike, earning the Academy Award® for her first major film outing, Roman Holiday (1953). She seemed to define irrepressible, through her deceptively sweet call girl in Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961) to her heartwarming rags-to-riches Eliza Doolittle in the film version of one of the last old school hit musicals, My Fair Lady (1964). The program will also feature a complementary user-generated content social campaign designed to encourage fans to share why they “Love Audrey” through photos and videos to further share their love with friends, family and fellow fans
· TCM Spotlight: Gay Hollywood - hosted by entertainment journalist Dave Karger and historian William Mann, TCM will bring viewers out of the celluloid closet every Thursday in June, highlighting the impact of the LGBT community on cinematic history. The network will be live tweeting throughout the programming utilizing the hashtag #LetsMovie
· Summer Under the Stars - TCM’s ultimate movie star showcase, Summer Under the Stars, returns as TCM pays tribute to 31 different stars in 31 days. Highlights from this year’s programming include Robert Mitchum’s 100th Birthday celebration, programming dedicated to Elvis on the 40th anniversary of his death and this year, 11 new stars receive their first Summer Under the Stars salute including Vanessa Redgrave, Sandra Dee and Leslie Caron. Fans can interact with the programming via an interactive calendar of the stars, online quizzes and live tweeting events
Fans can also participate in the network’s third free Massive Open Online Course, in partnership with Canvas Network and Ball State University, exploring Hitchcock’s prolific career. Running from June 26 to August 7, concurrent to the on-air programming, this free, flexible and fun online initiative will explore Hitchcock from his first movie during the silent era to his final film five decades later. Participants will experience innovative multimedia course materials, including video elements beyond traditional lecture-based videos, daily messaging with movie clips, character personality quizzes—all centered around Hitchcock characters—and ongoing social media interactions with fellow film fans during live-tweet sessions with the course’s Professor Richard Edwards.
Enrollment is currently open and film aficionados can sign up for the course at http://Hitchcock50.canvas.net.
