Kiefer Sutherland stars as Tom Kirkman, a lower-level cabinet member who is suddenly appointed President of the United States after a catastrophic attack on the US Capitol during the State of the Union, on the highly anticipated ABC series Designated Survivor. In this dramatic thriller, Kirkman will struggle to keep the country and his own family from falling apart, while navigating the highly-volatile political arena and while leading the search to find who is responsible for the attack.
This past fall, the ABC network began U.S. airings of Designated Survivor, a thrilling show with dramatic plotlines, exciting acting, and incredible visuals. Kiefer Sutherland (24), Natascha McElhone (Californication), Kal Penn (House, M.D.), Maggie Q (Nikita), Adan Canto (The Following), Italia Ricci (Supergirl), and LaMonica Garrett (Sons of Anarchy) make up the terrific cast of this series.

In Canada, the show is seen on the CTV channel, and elsewhere around the globe eOne distributes it through Netflix. David Guggenheim (brother of Marc Guggenheim, who is known for DC's Legends of Tomorrow and Arrow) created the show. It's produced by The Mark Gordon Company (Grey's Anatomy, Quantico) and Disney-owned ABC Studios. It's expected that ABC/Disney will be behind a DVD release in the USA, but so far that hasn't been announced.

Designated Survivor - Season 1Now, though, Amazon's Canadian branch has added a listing for Designated Survivor - Season 1 to be available from eOne on August 29th. The entry there shows it to be a 6-DVD set priced at CA$39.98 SRP. Note that Amazon.ca marks this as a "bilingual" release...Canadian law requires that all consumer product packages (including DVDs) be available with labels in both of that nation's official languages: English and French. So north of the border you'll find boxes with the cover text in both languages, and this will be one of those. A full-sized image with the package art isn't available yet, but we DID manage to find the thumbnail-sized version of the early artwork (not finalized yet, and could be subject to change) that you see to the right.

Stay tuned, naturally, and we'll update you with more details, and State-side release info, just as soon as those are made available to us!
