Stroud Will Go Deeper Into the Wild Than Ever Before to Learn From the World's Most Captivating and Dangerous Animals How to Endure Remote Alaska

WASHINGTON, D.C., and BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - July 25, 2017) - Nat Geo WILD today announced the greenlight of Alaska's Grizzly Gauntlet, a new series featuring legendary survivalist Les Stroud and produced by Ping Pong Productions. Stroud has endured some of the world's most extreme environments, from the deepest recesses of the Amazon to the brutal heat of the Kalahari, with nothing but his survival skills, a multi-tool and some serious grit. Now he faces the greatest challenge of his career, tackling Alaska's harshest climates alongside the most striking and fearsome wildlife our 49th state has to offer.

"Les Stroud has inspired millions of people to explore the wild like no one else," said Geoff Daniels, executive vice president and general manager, Nat Geo WILD. "Now we're challenging him to take it to the next level by learning how to face down Alaska's brutal landscape from its veteran predators. This will be a master class in authentic wilderness survival taught by the animals."

Unlike past expeditions, Stroud will face Alaska at the peak of animal activity, when bears, moose, caribou, cougars and wolves are on the hunt, roaming far and wide. Each week he will be dropped into a new extreme environment hand-picked by local wilderness guides, with a dense population of predators to see how they survive. Stroud will have to get closer to wildlife than he's ever been before and learn how they overcome the challenges of weather and water and food shortages. He will battle the harsh landscape with his well-honed survival skills, but the animals will be the wild card.
Alaska Grizzly Gauntlet is produced by Ping Pong Productions for Nat Geo WILD. For Ping Pong, Casey Brumels is executive producer. For Nat Geo WILD, executive producer is Tracy Rudolph, senior vice president of development and production is Janet Han Vissering and executive vice president and general manager is Geoff Daniels.
