Back in early May we passed along word that Visual Entertainment Inc. (VEI) was in the middle of preparing a DVD release for Poltergeist: The Legacy - The Complete Series. At the time we had no release date, and no pricing...just the package art (shown again below). Now Amazon.com has a listing for the title, showing that the 16-disc set will cost just $49.99! When will it be available? Tomorrow, July 4th...happy Independence Day! Our thanks to reader Jim Mazzeo for spotting this and pointing it out over the weekend. UPDATE: Not even 10 minutes after we posted this news, Amazon's listing was revised to show that the DVD set for Poltergeist: The Legacy - The Complete Series would instead be available to begin shipping on Friday, July 7th, rather than the 4th. That's actually more in keeping with standard practice for VEI: for their own reasons, they choose street dates that occur on Fridays, rather than the industry-standard Tuesdays.
