On September 11, 1967, Carol Burnett and her madcap cast took to the airwaves on CBS for a new variety series that combined sketch comedy, singing and dancing. Little did they know that The Carol Burnett Show would become an Emmy Award-winning program and survive the changing tastes of TV audiences to last eleven seasons. On March 29, 1978, the curtain came down for good. The Final Show, billed as A Special Evening with Carol Burnett, takes a two-hour stroll through the show's glory days. Carol, Vicki and Tim present a video scrapbook of unforgettable moments from their routines and movie spoofs. The love was never more heartfelt than in this long goodbye. Priced at $12.95 SRP, this is the two-hour installment that ended the legendary program. It was aired as "A Special Evening with Carol Burnett," and features clips from all eleven seasons introduced by Carol Burnett, Tim Conway and Vicki Lawrence. The original broadcast included such highlights as a skit with Bing Crosby and Bob Hope, an appearance by James Stewart, a final sketch of "The Family," and Vicki Lawrence singing her 1972 hit song, "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia." Keep in mind that this episode has been available on DVD before, but in larger collections; this is simply a separate release of the same item (so don't accidentally buy it again if you already own it!).
