THE SMILEY KIDS COMPETE FOR THE TITLE OF "BEST CHEF" WITH SOME HELP FROM CHEF G. GARVIN ON THE NEXT EPISODE OF TV ONE'S RICKEY SMILEY FOR REAL, TUESDAY, AUGUST 8 AT 8 P.M. ET

WASHINGTON, D.C. - August 3, 2017 - The Smiley kids put down their phones and step into the kitchen for a family cooking competition, Rickey tells Brandon to be more considerate of his relationship, and Ed's wife Vanessa makes him think twice about his diet on the next episode in TV One's Rickey Smiley For Real, airing Tuesday, August 8 at 8 p.m. ET.
After catching his family on their phones one too many times, Rickey decides to get the family more interpersonally connected by staging a cooking competition between all four kids - hosted by popular chef G. Garvin. Who will be the winner of the Smiley Family Cooking Competition?

"It's really great for me to be here, and see all you guys cooking together. It doesn't matter who wins. This is one of the great things that I grew up doing, cooking with my family," says G. Garvin. "It's really nice to see you guys do this." Later, Rickey goes to Brandon's new apartment for a visit, and finds out that things have been rocky between him and Beonka. He tells Brandon to be more mindful of his actions, now that he and Beonka have embarked on this milestone in their relationship.

"If you're going to be in a serious relationship, then commit and do the right thing by the relationship. Stop talking to other chicks," says Rickey.  "If that's your girl and she lives with you, respect the relationship and let all the other stuff go. This tit for tat is getting into petty [territory]." And in Atlanta, Ed cooks a dinner of fried chicken for his wife, Vanessa. While she's touched by the gesture, she tells him that they need to be more considerate of their diets and start making healthier choices.

"You can't just live off all of that low calorie, no gluten crap! You gotta have a little grease in your diet," says Ed. "I can't start counting calories like that - I can't live like that! I need to enjoy my life." Perplexed, Ed has a  conversation - over pizza - with Gary, where he lays out his concerns.

"Sometimes when your mates say you need to diet and look a certain way, they're looking somewhere else," counters Gary. "Most women want their husbands to die off - she must like you then, wants you to stay around for awhile."
