The series moves from Asia and Africa to Europe and the Americas, uniting us all through emotional moments that enrich and enlighten - encouraging us to look at our world through a wider, more inclusive lens. This season viewers will discover the surprising ancestral stories of 28 fascinating guests, including Carmelo Anthony, Téa Leoni, Ana Navarro, Bernie Sanders, Questlove, and Christopher Walken.
For more than a decade - beginning with the premiere of his groundbreaking series AFRICAN AMERICAN LIVES - renowned Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates, Jr. has helped to expand America's sense of itself, stimulating a national conversation about identity with humor, wisdom, and compassion. Working with a team of professional genealogists, geneticists, historians, and other leading experts, Gates has explored the ancestry of dozens of influential people from diverse backgrounds, taking millions of viewers deep into the past to reveal the connections that bind us all.
One of my favorite TV shows returns tonight, when PBS airs the season premiere of Finding Your Roots - Season 4! Kicking off with a look at the family ties which may possibly be common to funny man Larry David ( Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm) and former presidential candidate (and continuing U.S. Senator from Vermont) Bernie Sanders (I). This is the first of a season with 10 new episodes, which lasts through the middle of December! And today, PBS is already announcing a 3-DVD set of Finding Your Roots - Season 4, scheduled to be available on January 23rd. Priced at $39.99 SRP, it includes English SDH subtitles, and the guest cast for each episode is listed below. Under that is the package art featuring the faces of Scarlett Johansson, Amy Schumer, Janet Mock, William H. Macy, Bryant Gumbel, and Ted Danson:
- "The Impression" with Larry David and Bernie Sanders
- "Unfamiliar Kin" with Fred Armisen, Carly Simon and Christopher Walken
