MONDAY, JANUARY 29, 2018 – TNT’s The Alienist scored an impressive launch last Monday night to become cable’s #1 new drama series this season in Live +3 delivery. This gripping, turn-of-the-century murder mystery has so far reached a cumulative 13.1 million total viewers in telecasts airing last week, nearly half of whom were new to the network. The premiere TNT telecast alone averaged 3.1M total viewers and nearly 1M viewers 18-49 in Live +3, and the network’s Live +35 multiplatform projection is 16 million, making it TNT’s most successful launch event since 2012. New episodes of The Alienist premiere Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT only on TNT.
Hailed as “exhilarating to watch” by USA Today, and “richly detailed” by the Los Angeles Times, The Alienist beat out 8 new dramas that have already premiered this season for the #1 slot. The Alienist premiere was also a record setting digital launch for TNT, generating more than 4 million total minutes watched on TNT’s apps and sites, the most digital views among all TNT series, and sparking more than 10 million social engagements. The hit series is 2018’s most buzzed about new drama.
The Alienist is a co-production of Paramount Television and Turner's Studio T. BAFTA-nominee Jakob Verbruggen (Black Mirror) serves as director and executive producer along with Academy Award® winner Eric Roth (Forrest Gump), Academy Award® nominees Hossein Amini (Drive) and E. Max Frye (Foxcatcher), Anonymous Content's Steve Golin and Rosalie Swedlin, along with Chris Symes and Emmy® winner Cary Fukunaga (True Detective). Serving as co-executive producers on the series are Marshall Persinger (Rectify) and Jamie Payne (The Driver).
