This morning, IGN has an article confirming that date for Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Complete Series on Blu-ray...but exclusively at Best Buy, before becoming available for general retail at other sellers on June 5th. IGN reports a list price of $44.99 SRP (which is confusing; it makes it appear that Best Buy will be selling it for five dollars ABOVE the studio's intended list price!). It's a good week for information about the Blu-ray of this show to come to light! Two days ago was the 13th Anniversary of the broadcast debut of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Nickelodeon had three seasons (or "books") for it, each subtitled "Water," "Earth," and "Fire," respectively. Each season had 20 or 21 episodes, and the voice cast included Zach Tyler, Mae Whitman, Jack DeSena, Dante Basco, Mako, Jessie Flower, and Dee Bradley Baker. The show inspired a theatrical film (which wasn't well received) and a spinoff sequel (which was very well received), The Legend of Korra. Below is an early look, courtesy of IGN, of the package art for Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Complete Series on Blu-ray Disc. On the right is the actual package, and on the left is the slipcover the package slides into (that's what you'll see on store shelves). IGN says to expect a 9-disc set, with the bonus material listed immediately below included along with the episodes. For a bigger look at the package artwork, and a disc-by-disc breakdown of all the contents, please visit the IGN story at the link provided above! Our thanks to reader David Phelps for emailing and making sure we were aware of this.
