TV ONE TO LIVE STREAM EVENTS MARKING THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. ASSASSINATION
SILVER SPRING, MD –

and Urban One are marking
the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., with a live stream
of commemorative MLK50
events taking place in Memphis, Tennessee. Host
Roland Martin will be on location from the National Civil Rights Museum for two days of events highlighting
Dr. King’s vision of freedom and equality for all, culminating in a Day of Remembrance on Wednesday, April 4.
Events for the week include speaking panels at the National Civil Rights Museum and the University of Memphis Law School, featuring guest speakers
the Honorable Eric H. Holder,
Dr. Bernice King,
Martin Luther King III,
Rev. Jesse Jackson, and
Rev. Al Sharpton.
Day of Remembrance activities on Wednesday, April 4 will begin at 10 a.m. local time, featuring live performances on the MLK50 stage. A 50th anniversary ceremony will also take place at the site of Dr. King’s assassination, the Lorraine Motel.
The ceremony will include the laying of the wreath, tributes, a bell toll to honor the age of Dr. King at his death, and an evening of storytelling hosted by journalist
Tamron Hall.
