In fact, the special drew ABC’s largest post-season audience to the slot in nearly 1 year – tracking outside of the traditional Sept.-May season since 6/8/17.

ABC’s “The View” averaged 2.682 million Total Viewers, 426,000 Women 25-54 and 298,000 Women 18-49, during the week of May 14, 2018, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “The View” beat CBS’ “The Talk” (2.356 million, 407,000 and 383,000, respectively) during the week in Total Viewers (+326,000), Women 25-54 (+19,000) and Women 18-49 (+15,000).
“The View” improved on the previous week (2.607 million and 295,000, respectively, for w/o 5/7/18) in Total Viewers (+3%) and Women 18-49 (+1%).
For the 6th straight week, “The View” saw gains on the year-ago week (w/o 5/15/17) in Total Viewers (+2% – 2.682 million vs. 2.637 million).
Season to date, “The View” is posting gains compared to the same point last season in Total Viewers (+1% – 2.907 million vs. 2.868 million), marking its most-watched season in 4 years – since the 2013-2014 season.
In addition, “The View” leads CBS’ “The Talk” across the board, increasing its advantages from the same point last season in Total Viewers (350,000 vs. 177,000), Women 25-54 (88,000 vs. 59,000) and Women 18-49 (60,000 vs. 55,000). In fact, “The View” is posting its largest season leads over the CBS program in Total Viewers and Women 25-54 in 5 years – since the 2012-2013 season.

ABC News’ “Nightline” averaged 1.192 million Total Viewers, 443,000 Adults 25-54 and 330,000 Adults 18-49, during the week of May 7, 2018, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “Nightline” beat CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (409,000 and 295,000, respectively) in Adults 25-54 (+34,000) and Adults 18-49 (+35,000).
“Nightline” improved on the previous week (w/o 4/30/18) in Adults 25-54 (+1,000 – 443,000 vs. 442,000) and Adults 18-49 (+6,000 – 330,000 vs. 324,000).
“Nightline” decreased its gaps on the same week last year with NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” in Total Viewers (-46% – 97,000 vs. 180,000), Adults 25-54 (-49% – 57,000 vs. 112,000) and Adults 18-49 (-67% – 40,000 vs. 122,000).
Season to date, “Nightline” is beating CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” across the board: Total Viewers (+10,000 – 1.402 million vs. 1.392 million), Adults 25-54 (+34,000 – 514,000 vs. 480,000) and Adults 18-49 (+31,000 – 388,000 vs. 357,000).

During the week of May 7, 2018, ABC scored a network-leading 8 of the Top 20 TV programs with Adults 18-49, landing 3 in the 10 with “American Idol” three-peating as TV’s No. 1 unscripted series: “Roseanne” – No. 2, “Grey’s Anatomy” – No. 6, “American Idol-SUN” – No. 8, “The Middle” – No. 11, “Modern Family” – No. 16, while “black-ish,” “The Goldbergs” and “America’s Funniest Home Videos” tied at No. 20. In addition, “The View” leads CBS’ “The Talk” across the board, increasing its advantages from the same point last season in Total Viewers (348,000 vs. 171,000), Women 25-54 (91,000 vs. 57,000) and Women 18-49 (62,000 vs. 55,000). Featuring a second live “American Idol” broadcast across the country, ABC won Sunday night by wide margins in Adults 18-49 (1.3/5), beating CBS and Fox by 86% each (0.7/3-tied) and more than doubling NBC with a 160% advantage (0.5/2). ABC’s “American Idol” was Sunday’s dominant No. 1 TV series with Adults 18-49 (1.8 rating), standing as the night’s top broadcast entertainment series in all 9 of its telecasts this spring.
- ABC’s Sunday prime-time performance improved over the year-ago night with an all-original schedule, including a Princess Diana special, by 19% in Total Viewers (6.2 million 5.2 million) and by a sharp 44% in Adults 18-49 (1.3/5 vs. 0.9/4). In fact, fueled by “Idol’s” growth on the night, ABC is now up for the 2017-2018 season on Sunday evening by 18% in Total Viewers and by 7% in Adults 18-49.

ABC’s “The View” averaged 2.715 million Total Viewers, 428,000 Women 25-54 and 284,000 Women 18-49, during the week of April 23, 2018, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “The View” beat CBS’ “The Talk” (2.320 million, 391,000 and 265,000, respectively) during the week in Total Viewers (+395,000), Women 25-54 (+37,000) and Women 18-49 (+19,000).
For the third straight week, “The View” grew year-to-year in Total Viewers (+3% – 2.715 million vs. 2.626 million for w/o 4/24/17).
Season to date, “The View” is posting gains compared to the same point last season in Total Viewers (+1% – 2.923 million vs. 2.884 million), marking its most watched season in 4 years – since the 2013-14 season.
In addition, “The View” leads CBS’ “The Talk” across the board, increasing its advantages from the same point last season in Total Viewers (344,000 vs. 173,000), Women 25-54 (91,000 vs. 58,000) and Women 18-49 (63,000 vs. 57,000). In fact, “The View” is posting its largest season leads over the CBS program in Total Viewers and Women 25-54 in 5 years – since the 2012-13 season.

ABC News’ “Nightline” averaged 1.231 million Total Viewers, 462,000 Adults 25-54 and 343,000 Adults 18-49, during the week of April 23, 2018, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “Nightline” beat CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (1.207 million, 381,000 and 281,000, respectively) in Total Viewers (+24,000), Adults 25-54 (+81,000) and Adults 18-49 (+62,000).
“Nightline” improved on the same week last year (1.186 million and 437,000, respectively, for w/o 4/24/17) in Total Viewers (+4%) and Adults 25-54 (+6%).
“Nightline” narrowed its margins year-to-year with NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” in Total Viewers (-31% – 84,000 vs. 122,000) Adults 25-54 (-4% – 86,000 vs. 90,000) and Adults 18-49 (-12% – 60,000 vs. 68,000).
Season to date, “Nightline” is beating CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” across the board: Total Viewers (+13,000 – 1.410 million vs. 1.397 million), Adults 25-54 (+32,000 – 518,000 vs. 486,000) and Adults 18-49 (+31,000 – 392,000 vs. 361,000).
