“Bethany Mota” – YouTube sensation Bethany Mota channels a punk rocker when she goes undercover to link up with and mentor potential YouTube stars, on UNDERCOVER BOSS: CELEBRITY EDITION, Friday, May 25 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. While pretending she wants to start her own YouTube channel, Mota hopes things will click when tasked with teaching a dance class for a YouTube channel; picks up the beat in a beatboxing challenge on Hollywood Boulevard; and fears she won’t be able to keep it together when faced with eating a cricket during a YouTube food challenge.
YouTube superstar, author, designer and entrepreneur Bethany Mota has become one of the most powerful voices in social and new media. Mota’s YouTube channel has more than 12.7 million subscribers, and her videos have been viewed almost two billion times. In 2011 Mota also launched the lifestyle vlog “Bethany’s Life,” which has already accrued over 2.2 million subscribers. Having grown into a true trendsetter, she also has over 5.5 million followers on Twitter @BethanyMota and over 5.5 million followers on Instagram @bethanynoelm.
Last year, Bethany Mota added author to her long list of accomplishments and released Make Your Mind Up, her first book with Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. Celebrated by her viewers and new “Motavators” alike, her book features inspirational content on how to stay motivated, recipes, insider tips and tricks, and fashion and beauty advice.
In 2013 Mota designed and launched the first of many of her own collections for the apparel brand Aeropostale. Targeted to teens 14 to 17 years old, the line can be found in more 900 stores around the country and includes apparel, fragrance and accessories. Alongside two separate covers of Fast Company highlighting her incredible achievements with YouTube, TIME magazine hailed her as one of the most influential teens in the world for two consecutive years; Vogue named her one of “8 YouTube Stars Who Are Taking Over the World”; and in 2015, when she was 19 years old, Business Insider listed her as one of the most powerful people in Hollywood in her age category. In 2016 Mota was honored by Forbes as one of the year’s “Forbes 30 Under 30” for her work in the arts and lifestyle space, and she discussed the future of digital marketing at the Forbes Under 30 Summit. Mota kicked off 2015 by interviewing President Obama after his State of the Union address. The YouTube interview garnered millions of viewers around the world.
