ABC News’ “Nightline” ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (1.216 million) during the week of Aug. 6, 2018, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. Taking the top spot for the 2nd straight week, “Nightline” beat CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (1.126 million) by 90,000 and NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” (1.155 million) by 61,000.
“Nightline” (418,000 and 316,000, respectively) also led CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (366,000 and 270,000,000, respectively) in Adults 25-54 (+52,000) and Adults 18-49 (+46,000).
For the 2nd week in a row, “Nightline” improved on the previous week (w/o 7/30/18) in Adults 25-54 (+1% – 418,000 vs. 412,000), drawing its best news demo performance in 4 weeks – since w/o 7/9/18.
“Nightline” cut its Adults 18-49 gap with NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” from the prior week by 33% (37,000 vs. 55,000 for w/o 7/30/18).
“Nightline” slashed its year-to-year margins (w/o 8/7/17) with NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” in Adults 25-54 (-53% – 56,000 vs. 119,000) and Adults 18-49 (-73% – 37,000 vs. 135,000).
Season to date, “Nightline” is beating CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” in Adults 25-54 (+32,000 – 495,000 vs. 463,000) and Adults 18-49 (+31,000 – 374,000 vs. 343,000).
Stories on “Nightline” last week included a man’s fight to be allowed to post blueprints for 3-D printed guns online; a look at ‘QAnon,’ a conspiracy theory that has gained mainstream attention; the search for Mollie Tibbetts who disappeared after being last seen while running along the streets of Brooklyn, Iowa; a trip to Azores, Portugal, to go inside the competition with the world’s most elite cliff divers; and concerns being raised by doctors about the new trend of patients wanting to look like retouched, picture-perfect versions of themselves.

For the 2017-18 Season, ‘The View’ Delivers Its Largest Season Leads Over ‘The Talk’ in Total Viewers and Women 25-54 in 5 Years
ABC’s “The View” averaged 2.625 million Total Viewers, 423,000 Women 25-54 and 276,000 Women 18-49 during the week of July 30, 2018, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “The View” beat CBS’ “The Talk” (2.355 million, 351,000 and 243,000, respectively) across the board: Total Viewers (270,000), Women 25-54 (73,000) and Women 18-49 (33,000). In addition, “The Viewer” increased its lead over “The Talk” week to week (w/o 7/23/18) in Women 25-54 (+26%; vs. 57,000) and Women 18-49 (+94%; vs. 17,000).
For the 2017-18 season, “The View” posted gains compared to the previous season in Total Viewers (+1% – 2.856 million vs. 2.815 million), marking its most-watched season in 4 years – since the 2013-2014 season.
In addition, “The View” leads CBS’ “The Talk” and is increasing its advantages from the same point last season in Total Viewers (346,000 vs. 187,000), Women 25-54 (80,000 vs. 55,000) and Women 18-49 (53,000 vs. 52,000). In fact, “The View” is posting its largest season leads over the CBS program in Total Viewers and Women 25-54 in 5 years – since the 2012-2013 season.

ABC News’ “Nightline” ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (1.217 million) during the week of July 30, 2018, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “Nightline” led CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (1.063 million) by 154,000 and NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” (1.154 million) by 63,000.
“Nightline” (412,000 and 318,000, respectively) also beat CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (324,000 and 235,000, respectively) in Adults 25-54 (+88,000) and Adults 18-49 (+83,000).
“Nightline” posted double-digit, week-to-week gains (1.070 million, 369,000 and 278,000, respectively, for w/o 7/23/18) across the board: Total Viewers (+14%), Adults 25-54 (+12%) and Adults 18-49 (+14%), drawing its largest overall audience in 8 weeks – since w/o 6/4/18.
“Nightline” improved year to year (1.110 million and 290,000, respectively, w/o 7/31/17) in Total Viewers (+10%) and Adults 18-49 (+10%).
“Nightline” cut its Adults 25-54 margin with NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” by 11% (52,000 vs. 80,000).
“Nightline” narrowed its year-to-year margins with NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” by double digits in Adults 25-54 (-45% – 52,000 vs. 95,000) and Adults 18-49 (-58% – 55,000 vs. 131,000).
Season to date, “Nightline” is beating CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” in Adults 25-54 (+32,000 – 496,000 vs. 464,000) and Adults 18-49 (+31,000 – 375,000 vs. 344,000).
Stories on “Nightline” last week included an examination of “mommy-shaming”; the sentencing of Penn State frat member Ryan Burke in connection to criminal charges related to the death of Tim Piazza; the continuing protests in Minneapolis after no charges were filed in the fatal police shooting of Thurman Blevins; a report on suspected murderer Danueal Drayton who used dating apps to target his alleged victims; a look inside the effort to rescue, rehabilitate and return manatees to the wild; and an interview with radio host Dave Ramsey who went from rock-bottom debt to becoming a financial guru.
