On Friday, September 21, cast members Mira Sorvino, Adam Brody, Ron Perlman, Edi Gathegi and Otmara Marrero celebrated the World Premiere of Sony Crackle’s “StartUp” Season 3 at the Tribeca TV Festival in New York. The cast and show creator, Ben Ketai, sat down with panel moderator, Mary Kaye Schilling (Deputy Editor, Newsweek), to discuss the Season 3 premiere episode, which was screened during the festival, and what audiences can look forward to throughout the remainder of the season.

Mira Sorvino, who joined the cast this season in a guest starring role, discussed how she got into this new character and how her personal life began to mirror the role: “It’s hard for me to be away from my four young children and I had some bad things happen while I was there, some loss back home. So for me, that all kind of came together, converged, in the playing of the part.”

During the audience Q&A at the end of the panel, the cast chatted about the timeliness of the show’s themes on internet privacy and their personal views on the subject. While on this topic, Ron Perlman said: “I’m more messed up than ever now because we don’t even know what’s true anymore…how do you know, when there is a threat on a protected venue, whether it’s real or not or whether it’s some bot trying to do what they did with the 2016 election, which is trying to get people to think a certain way?” Adam Brody also shared his point of view, stating that “It can’t just be lawless. There have to be some boundaries and rules and safeguards.”

StartUp” Season 3 premieres Thursday, November 1 on Sony Crackle, the free streaming ad-supported network. A sneak peek will be made available on Amazon devices through the Sony Crackle app starting Monday, October 22.
