NEW YORK, February 22, 2019 – Comedy Central will return to Austin for the 2019 SXSW Festival to present a series of events including: a featured session with The Daily Show with Trevor Noah; a screening of the final three episodes of Broad City’s final season, followed by a Q&A with series creators and stars, Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer; two special nights of stand-up featuring The Daily Show’s team of correspondents on one night and a curated evening of laughs from the creators of the upcoming The New Negroes with Baron Vaughn and Open Mike Eagle on another; the return of Comedy Central’s annual Backyard Bash; and the SXSW debut of The Daily Show with Trevor Noah Presents: The Donald J. Trump Presidential Twitter Library.

Enjoy a night of free, live comedy featuring the World’s Fakest News Team: Ronny Chieng, Michael Kosta, Dulcé Sloan, Roy Wood, Jr. and Jaboukie Young-White. Esther’s Follies is located at 525 E 6th Street. The show is part of SXSW Comedy and free to SXSW badge holders.

CNN Anchor & Chief Washington Correspondent Jake Tapper sits down with Daily Show host Trevor Noah and correspondents Ronny Chieng, Michael Kosta, Desi Lydic, Dulcé Sloan, Roy Wood, Jr. and Jaboukie Young-White to panel harder than anyone has ever paneled before. They’ll discuss how today’s fast-paced media cycle has changed (and keeps changing!) the late-night comedy landscape. The Daily Show team will offer an inside look at how they tackle politics, race and social issues on the show. The critically-acclaimed and award-winning Presidential Twitter Library makes its debut at SXSW after having previously travelled to Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and New York City. It will be open from Saturday, March 9 through Monday, March 11 at the Driskill Hotel (604 Brazos Street). On opening day only (Saturday), event hours are 11:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. CT; Sunday and Monday the Library will be open from 10:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. CT. Admission is free to SXSW badge holders. It will be so tremendous that those who miss it will be SAD!
420 Show with Matt Besser at The Hideout Theatre
Saturday, March 9 at 9:00 p.m. CT
Comedians telling jokes/stories about weed/getting high featuring Matt Besser, Abbi Jacobson, Horatio Sanz, Jon Gabrus, and more TBA. The Hideout Theatre is located at 617 Congress Ave. The show is part of SXSW Comedy and free to SXSW badge holders.
Broad City Screening and Q&A with Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer

Be the first to see how it ends! Join series creators and stars Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer for a special sneak screening of the final three episodes of the iconic series followed by a Q&A with Abbi and Ilana! The New Negroes with Baron Vaughn and Open Mike Eagle Stand-up Show at Esther’s Follies
Sunday, March 10 at 10:00 p.m. CT
Enjoy a night of free, live comedy curated by Baron Vaughn and Open Mike Eagle, creators and hosts of the upcoming Comedy Central stand-up series The New Negroes with Baron Vaughn and Open Mike Eagle. A socially aware stand-up and musical series showcasing a collection of new and established comedians, The New Negroes will make its debut on Comedy Central this spring. As described by The New York Times, which featured the long-running live stage show from which the series was born, Vaughn and Eagle seek to “…do more than simply provoke laughter…[the hosts] want to challenge ideas about what constitutes black entertainment and expand the discussion about black life in America.” Talent to perform at SXSW include Sam Jay, Josh Johnson, Dulcé Sloan with more to be announced. Comedy Central’s Backyard Bash
Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16 from 12:00-5:00 p.m. CT
Backyard Bash, an annual event at SXSW since 2014, will feature several interactive stations celebrating Comedy Central franchises including: a Drunk History dunk tank where fans can get dunked or dunk costumed historical figures in beer; make friendship bracelets at the Broad City station; snap a pic in the Comedy Central GIF photo booth; win some sweet CC swag, and much more! Backyard Bash is free, open to the public and entry includes two free beers and an egg taco, while supplies last. The event takes place Pelons Tex Mex & Bar 508 Mezcalerita (802 Red River St.).
