ON “60 MINUTES” SUNDAY: ARE THE ICONS OF EASTER ISLAND SLOWLY FADING AWAY?
Easter Island, a speck of land in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, has long been known for its mysterious stone statues that dot the landscape. They’re called moai, and modern descendants of those that made them believe they represent their ancestors. But time and the elements are threatening these icons, which are slowly fading away as 10s of thousands of tourists come to see them before it’s too late. Anderson Cooper reports from Easter Island on 60 MINUTES, Sunday, April 21 (7:00-8:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television.
