WE TV BRINGS THURSDAY NIGHT FRANCHISE “GROWING UP HIP HOP” TO THE BIG APPLE “GROWING UP HIP HOP: NEW YORK” PREMIERES SUMMER 2019
NEW YORK, NY – April 11, 2019 – WE tv announced today its newest expansion to its hit franchise with “Growing Up Hip Hop: New York,” set to premiere in Summer 2019. The newest edition of the franchise will follow some of New York’s hip hop royalty as they navigate love, life and famous parents. The cast will include rap star Ja Rule and progeny Jeff Bruce Atkins Jr. and Brittney Atkins; Murder Inc. mogul Irv Gotti and children, Angie Pearson and Jonathan “JJ” Wilson Lorenzo; Fat Joe with son Ryan Cartagena; Charli Baltimore and daughter DJ Siaani; Young Dirty Bastard, son of the late Old Dirty Bastard; daughter of Public Enemy’s Flavor Flav, Da’Zyna; JoJo Simmons, son of legendary rap pioneer Rev. Run; rapper and actress Lil’ Mama and her brother Arnstar; and DJ Kid Capri with daughter Vina Love.
Each hour-long episode will follow these New York natives as they work hard to step outside the shadow of their famous parents and gain their own independence and careers. The original “Growing Up Hip Hop” launched in 2016 and expanded the following year with “Growing Up Hip Hop Atlanta.”
