Up against NBC’s second night of live Democratic Debate coverage, ABC delivered Thursday’s No. 1 TV series for the 2nd week in a row with the hit mini-golf competition “Holey Moley” in Adults 18-49 (0.9/5), which increased its advantage over Fox’s “Spin the Wheel” to 50% this week (0.6/3 from 9:00-10:00 p.m.), up from 25% last week. In fact from 8:00-10:00 p.m., ABC’s “Summer Fun & Games” beat Fox’s Thursday unscripted lineup by 14% (0.8/4 vs. 0.7/3).

- At 9:00 p.m. against the start of the debate on the East Coast, ABC’s “Family Food Fight” retained 100% of its week-ago series debut in Adults 18-49 and tied Fox’s “Spin the Wheel” for the entertainment lead in the hour (0.6/3), after trailing the new Fox game show by 2-tenths the prior week.

ABC News’ “Nightline” ranked No. 1 in Adults 18-49 (289,000) for the 4th week in a row during the week of June 17, 2019, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “Nightline” led CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (224,000) by 65,000 and NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” (280,000) by 9,000.
“Nightline” slashed its margins from the same week last year (w/o 6/18/18) with NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” in Total Viewers (-59% – 29,000 vs. 71,000) and Adults 25-54 (-92% – 9,000 vs. 119,000).
Season to date, “Nightline” is leading CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” in Adults 25-54 (+35,000 – 446,000 vs. 411,000) and Adults 18-49 (+30,000 – 330,000 vs. 300,000).

“Nightline” beat CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (1.106 million, 300,000 and 217,000, respectively) by its largest Total Viewers margin (+129,000) in nearly 1 year and biggest advantages in Adults 25-54 (+179,000) and Adults 18-49 (+186,000) in one year – since weeks of 7/30/18 and 6/4/18, respectively, based on original telecasts. “Nightline” defeated NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” (1.055 million, 374,000 and 266,000, respectively) by its largest margins in Total Viewers (+180,000), Adults 25-54 (+105,000) and Adults 18-49 (+137,000) in 2 years – since w/o 6/5/17, based on original telecasts.
“Nightline” improved on the year-ago week (1.158 million, 414,000 and 326,000, respectively, for w/o 6/11/18) across the board: Total Viewers (+7%), Adults 25-54 (+16%) and Adults 18-49 (+24%).

For the recently completed 2018-2019 broadcast season, “20/20” beat “Dateline” in Total Viewers (+4% – 4.9 million vs. 4.7 million) for the first time in 3 years and Adults 25-54 (+8% – 1.3/5 vs. 1.2/5) for the first time in 4 years. “20/20” tied “Dateline” in Adults 18-49, delivering its most competitive performance with the NBC program in the demo in 3 years. “20/20” also grew by double digits across the board: Total Viewers (+26%), Adults 18-49 (+29%) and Adults 25-54 (+18%), while “Dateline” declined by double digits across the board: Total Viewers (-19%), Adults 18-49 (-18%) and Adults 25-54 (-25%).

From 9:00-11:00 p.m., ABC’s “20/20” improved on its most recent telecast (5/31/19) in Total Viewers (+6% – 3.7 million vs. 3.5 million), while matching its performance in Adults 18-49 (0.6/3) and Adults 25-54 (0.9/4). “20/20” saw its most-watched telecast in 10 weeks, while equaling its strongest numbers in both key Adult demos in 9 weeks – since 4/5/19 and 4/12/19, respectively.
ABC’s “20/20” stood as Friday’s No. 1 newsmagazine, leading NBC’s “Dateline”(10:00-11:00 p.m.) across the board: Total Viewers (+12% – 3.7 million vs. 3.3 million), Adults 18-49 (+20% – 0.6/3vs. 0.5/3) and Adults 25-54 (+13% – 0.9/4 vs. 0.8/4).

In fact, Monday’s “Kimmel” marked the strongest telecast for any late-night talk show on any network so far this year with Adults 18-49.
Coming off a season high set the prior week, “Kimmel” held steady week to week with Adults 18-49 (650,000 vs. 669,000) to post its 2nd best performance this season.

ABC Delivers 6 of the Week’s Top 10 TV Shows in Adults 18-49
With “The Bachelorette” and the first two games of the 2019 NBA Finals, ABC dominated the week (w/o 5/27/19) by 1.4 million viewers over its nearest competition (5.4 million vs. 3.9 million – NBC and CBS tied) and doubled runner-up NBC in Adults 18-49 (1.6/8 vs. 0.8/4). In fact, leading the week by 100% in Adults 18-49, ABC scored the biggest weekly winning advantage for any network since mid-February – since ABC won “Oscar®” week by 111% in young adults (w/o 2/18/19).
ABC delivered a resounding 6 of the Top 10 TV programs of the week in Adults 18-49 with the “NBA Finals on ABC” Games 1 and 2 tying for the No. 1 position: “NBA Finals on ABC-GM1” and “NBA Finals on ABC-GM2” tied at No. 1, “NBA Countdown-GM1” – No. 5, “The Bachelorette SP” – No. 6, “Jimmy Kimmel Live Game Night 1” and “NBA Countdown-GM2” tied at No. 10. In addition, ABC’s coverage of the 2019 NBA Finals produced the week’s Top 2 most-watched TV shows overall with Game 2 and Game 1, respectively.

Airing from 9:00-11:00 p.m., ABC’s “20/20” won its 2-hour time period among Adults 18-49 (0.6/3) and Adults 25-24 (0.9/4). Friday’s No. 1 newsmagazine, ABC’s “20/20” outdelivered NBC’s “Dateline” (10:00-11:00 p.m.) on the night by double digits in Total Viewers (+17% – 3.5 million vs. 3.0 million), Adults 18-49 (+20% – 0.6/3 vs. 0.5/3) and Adults 25-54 (+29% – 0.9/4 vs. 0.7/3). Growing week to week in viewers (+25%), Adults 18-49 (+20%) and Adults 25-54 (+29%), “20/20” drew its biggest audience in 8 weeks and hit 7-week highs in the two Adult demos – since 4/5/19 and 4/12/19, respectively.
Season to date, “20/20” is up from the same point last year with Total Viewers (+23% – 4.8 million vs. 3.9 million), Adults 18-49 (+13% – 0.9/4 vs. 0.8/3) and Adults 25-54 (+18% – 1.3/5 vs. 1.1/4), standing as Friday’s No. 1 newsmagazine in all three measures.
In addition, “20/20” leads “Dateline-Fri” in all key target demos: Total Viewers (+2% – 4.8 million vs. 4.7 million), Adults 18-49 (+13% – 0.9/4 vs. 0.8/4) and Adults 25-54 (+8% – 1.3/5 vs. 1.2/5), leading the NBC newsmagazine in Total Viewers for the first time at this point of the season in 3 years and in Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54 in 4 years – since the 2015-2016 and the 2014-2015 seasons, respectively.
The two-hour “20/20” documentary reported on a man who murdered a friend to steal his money and then killed a young woman in an attempted cover-up.
