On the Tuesday, October 29th edition of ‘Tamron Hall,’ Tamron welcomed
Dan Piepenbring, the writer that collaborated with Prince for his memoir,
The Beautiful Ones, which was released today. Piepenbring revealed that the two worked together just days before his tragic death. During the conversation, Tamron opened up about her own relationship with the music icon, and even shared a personal email
that she received from Prince (Watch clip HERE) about the red dress
she wore in the selfie that ultimately became the cover for Prince’s single “If Eye Could Get Ur Attention.” In the email, Prince playfully teased Tamron about the red dress, saying he hated it “Because it’s touching Ur body and Eye’m not. :(,” to which
Tamron jokingly responded to the audience:
“I’m happily married now, we’ll leave that there. We’ll let that simmer.”
Tamron laughed while explaining Prince’s opinions of, and involvement in, her wardrobe:
“Prince called me every single morning to critique or give feedback on what I would wear. Then I sent him a selfie one day, and he then stole my selfie and used it as the cover his single. I woke up the next morning and people were like ‘You’re all over
the internet. You’re on the cover of Prince’s song, If Eye Could Get Ur Attention.”
On having the privilege to work with Prince before his death, Piepenbring said:
“It was one of the defining experiences of my life. What an honor to work with him, and how sad to have to carry on without him.”
