AMC NETWORKS CELEBRATES BLACK HISTORY MONTH WITH MEMBERS OF CONGRESS IN 7TH ANNUAL PSA CAMPAIGN



AMC Networks’ partners with the NAACP to share stories from Congressional Leaders about the importance and significance of Black History Month
Tune in to any of AMC Networks’ channels during the month of February to see the spots featuring members of the Congressional Black Caucus including Representatives Andre Carson, Emanuel Cleaver, James Clyburn, Bonnie Watson Coleman, Gwen Moore, Donald Payne, Jr., and Hank Johnson

New York, NY – AMC Networks is celebrating Black History Month with its award-winning 7th Annual Black History Month Public Service Announcement campaign. The campaign, in partnership with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), features Members of the Congressional Black Caucus sharing the stories of inspiration and perseverance that inspire them in celebration of Black History Month. The spots will air on AMC, BBC AMERICA, IFC, SundanceTV, WE tv and streaming service UMC (Urban Movie Channel) throughout the month of February.
“This PSA campaign, now in its seventh year, is one of our company’s most meaningful initiatives,” said Josh Sapan, President and Chief Executive Officer of AMC Networks. “We’re proud to provide a platform to Members of Congress to share amazing stories that motivate and inspire their work on Capitol Hill and to put these stories front and center for our viewers.”
This year, the PSA series contains four thematic spots that will air throughout the month of February, including:
“Black History is American History”: A celebration of Black History featuring Congressman James Clyburn [NC – 6], Congressman Andre Carson [IN – 7] and Congresswoman Gwen Moore [WI – 4].
“Historically Black Colleges and Universities”: This PSA honors HBCUs and their impact. Featuring Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman [NJ – 15], Congressman Donald Payne, Jr. [NJ – 10], Congressman James Clyburn [NC – 6] and Congressman Andre Carson [IN – 7].
”Voting”: A look at some of the most notable moments in the fight to protect the voting rights of African Americans. Featuring Congressman Hank Johnson [GA – 4], Congressman Donald Payne, Jr. [NJ – 10], Congressman Andre Carson [IN – 7], Congressman Emanuel Cleaver [MO – 5] and Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman [NJ – 15].
“Black Women in History”: A look at the powerful women, past and present, who shape change in American History. Featuring Congresswoman Gwen Moore [WI – 4], Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman [NJ – 15] and Congressman Hank Johnson [GA – 4].
